Craft Beer

Understanding Craft Beer

Craft beer also known as microbrew is made by a brewer that is small, independent, and traditional. Craft as in craft. And Beer as in Beer. It's about crafted artisan beer. It all begun in the USA in the 1970s started by Coors, Miller and Anheuser Bush. Basically they had no alternative in their vicinity, but only medium bad, hardly distinguishable industrial beers. Hence, they began to brew it themselves.
Moreover the best "homebrewers" at that time were the "microbreweries" which were selling their own beers in the area.
This tradition is being followed till this day, only that craft beer has been popular from the Whole-Foods-better-eater-hipster era. Samuel Adams, Sierra Nevada, Stone Brewing Co.,Lagunitas and Brooklyn Brewery manufacture enormous quantities today and sell around the world instead of selling barely in the pub around the corner.
One thing is definite: It's all about freedom in beer manufacturing. Of companies, from huge to small breweries, it’s about taste variety and distinctness; for that reason, to make amazingly non-mainstream beers, brewing styles are unusual, with unusual recipes.
It comes to be not just any mass product, but beer, brewed by people, not machines, hand and heart and not just doing so to win.
Long Craft Beer is not a merely American thing. All around the world more and more good beer is brewed & crafted. It is a beer made in a traditional or non-mechanized way by a small brewery. Bear in mind, back in the nineties when beer brewed by small, independent brewers was called microbrew.
It is quite odd that the name faded away. It was a grand little word that wholly described the new kind of breweries that were capturing market share back then. Everyone knew precisely what it meant and that we could anticipate novel and exhilarating beer that came to us with the microbrew name attached to it.
Craft beer is beer not brewed by one of the gigantic "mega-brewery" corporations. It’s a beer manufactured by a brewer that is petite, sovereign, and customary.
A microbrewery or craft brewery is a brewery that produces a small amount of customized beer. Exact characterizations differ, but these expressions are typically applied to breweries that are much smaller than large-scale corporate breweries and are autonomously owned. Such breweries are by and large characterized by their stress on quality, flavor and brewing technique.
The micro brewing movement began in the United Kingdom in the 1970s — while traditional artisan brewing has existed in Europe for centuries — and consequently extended to other nations. As the movement nurtured and some breweries enlarged their making and supply, the more encircling notion of craft brewing surfaced out. A correlated term, "brewpub", refers to a pub or restaurant that brews its own beer for retailing on the premises.
The word knocked out mostly out of use for a combine of reasons. First, it is essentially a legal term that specifically describes breweries of definite sizes in the US. To be considered a microbrewery, a brewery had to manufacture a restricted number of barrels of beer, a very limited number. Second, the term just stopped making logic as “micro”-breweries like Boston Beer Company (Sam Adams) and Sierra Nevada with countrywide supply and abundance of brand identification simply stopped being micro.
Then a new term cropped up, “craft beer”. It appeared broadly adequate but completely ideal in describing the genus of beer. Beer that is crafted instead of manufactured. Brewers Association defines craft brewer, as one that is small, independent and traditional.
The number of barrels brewed per year come about to be the same as a tax bracket that the federal government uses to resolve how much a brewery pays in business taxes. While the Brewers Association’s number was never officially fixed to the government’s number.
